SCHEME OF EXAM RULES & REGULATION
- Be in time. A candidate who is late by more than 30 minutes shall not be admitted to the examination hall.
- No candidate shall be permitted to leave until half an hour is over after the question papers have been distributed.
- Enter on the title page the class, subject, section and seat number.
- Write on both sides of the page, unless instructed. Rough work should be written on the left hand side or on a separate page. Answer each question on a new page and number it.
- No pages shall be torn off from the answer-book given to the candidate.
- Nothing shall be written on the question paper.
- Exchange of written materials, stencils, mathematical instruments, etc. is strictly prohibited. Ask the supervisor in case any thing is needed but do not leave the seat on any account, at any time do not leave the Examination Hall during the last ten minutes.
- A candidate is liable to disciplinary action for use of unfair-means e.g. if he/she –
- Keeps with him/her any book, notes or any other written material.
- Speaks to or communicates, in any other way with another candidate.
- Disobey any instructions issued by the senior or junior supervisor or is guilty of rude or disobedient behavior.
- Any use of unfair-means during the examination is liable to severe penalties as per the ordinance.
- Ten minutes before the close, a warning bell will be rung, after which no candidate will be permitted to leave the hall. At the second bell, all must stop writing and be ready to handover the answer booklets to the supervisor.
SCHEMES FOR EXAMINATION
1) Revaluation
The directives of Mumbai University should be followed by students wishing to apply for Revaluation of papers. This may be done manually or by using the online mode, as the case may be.
2) Credit Based Evaluation System
The Performance of the learners will be evaluated at the Semester End Examination carrying 100 marks for all the subjects except Foundation course.
The Foundation Course paper will be evaluated in two components. On component will be the Internal Assessment Component carrying 25% marks (Project) and the second component will be the Semester End Examination component carrying 75% marks. Semester End Examination – 100 Marks Duration: These examinations shall be of 3 hours
3) Passing Standard
The learners to pass a course shall have to obtain the minimum of 40% marks in aggregate for each course in all subjects except Foundation Course.
In the subject of Foundation Course, the learner shall have to obtain minimum of 40% marks (i.e. 10 out of 25) in project work and 40% marks in the Semester End Examination (i.e. 30 out of 75) separately to pass. A learner will be said to have passed in the subject if the learner passes the Internal Assessment (Project Work) and Semester End Examination together

A.T.K.T. RULES (Allowed to keep Terms)
Amended R.8438 Eligibility for Admission to all the Under Graduate Programs (aided and non-aided) in the Faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce under Credit Based Semester and Grading System.
i) Eligibility criteria for a learner, to be admitted in Semester V (Third year) of UG programs in Faculties of Arts and Commerce is amended as follows, a) Shall have passed Semester I, II, III and IV in full
OR
b) Shall have passed Semester I and II in full and secured ATKT in the Second year by failing in not more than Two Courses in each of Semester III and Semester IV.
OR
c) Shall have Secured ATKT in First Year by failing in not more than Two Courses in each of Semester I and Semester II and have passed Semester III and Semester IV in full.
ii) Eligibility for admission to Semester V (Third year) of UG programs in Faculty of Science is amended as follows, Learner shall have passed Semester I, II, III and IV in full
OR
iii) Learner shall have passed Semester I and Semester II in full and secured ATKT in Second Year by failing in For programs with 900 and above marks in not more than Three Courses in each of Semester III and IV For programs with less than 900 marks in not more than Three Courses with not more than total 200 marks in each of Semester III & IV
OR
Learner shall have passed Semester III and Semester IV in full and secured ATKT in First Year by failing in, For programs with 900 and above marks in not more than Three Courses in each of Semester I and II For programs with less than 900 marks in not more than Three Courses with not more than total 200 marks in each of Semester I & II.
iv) Amended R.8439 Additional Examination for Semester I and Semester II be held after the conduct of Semester II Examination in March/April every year and Additional Examination for Semester III and Semester IV be held after the conduct of Semester IV Examination in March/April every year. However, Additional Examination for Semester II and Semester IV be held after 20 days and before 40 days from the date of declaration of result of the respective Semester End Examination.
PROCEDURE FOR INVESTING IN CASE OF MALPRACTICES
Unfair Means
The College is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical behaviour. Any attempt to gain an undue advantage during academic evaluations is regarded as a serious breach of institutional regulations. The term “unfair means” encompasses the use of unauthorized or prohibited methods during examinations, tests, assignments, presentations, or project submissions.
Such actions include, but are not limited to: copying from another student; possessing unauthorized materials such as handwritten notes, mobile phones, smart watches, or other electronic devices in the examination hall; communicating with fellow students during an examination; impersonating another student; or submitting work that has been plagiarized. Furthermore, activities such as tampering with academic records, falsifying research data, or attempting to unduly influence faculty or staff through coercion or misconduct also constitute unfair means.
The College treats all such violations with the utmost seriousness and shall take appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with its academic and ethical policies.
PROCEDURE IN CASE OF UNFAIR MEANS & CONSEQUENCES :
- Detection of Malpractice:
- By Invigilators/Examination Staff: Malpractice is detected during the examination.
- Materials Confiscation: Unauthorized materials (e.g., notes, mobile phones) are seized.
- Immediate Reporting: The invigilator reports the malpractice to the examination authorities.
- Filing of Report:
- Detailed Report: The invigilator submits a report to the Controller of Examinations, which includes the nature of the malpractice, the student’s details, and any evidence (e.g., confiscated materials).
- Student’s Statement: The student is asked to provide an explanation or defense.
- Suspension from the Examination:
- The student may be asked to leave the examination hall, and their exam paper may be cancelled for that session.
- Inquiry by the Examination Committee:
- Examination Malpractice Committee: A special committee is constituted to investigate the case.
- Review of Evidence: The committee examines the student’s answer sheet, the materials seized, and any statements from invigilators or the student.
- Opportunity for Defense: The student is given a chance to explain or defend their actions.
- Decision Making:
- The committee makes a decision based on the investigation, evidence, and student defense.
- The final decision is communicated to the student.
CONSEQUENCES & ACTION TAKEN BY UNFAIR MEANS :
- Cancellation of Exam Paper:
- For Minor Offenses (e.g., small cheating incidents):
- The student’s specific exam paper is canceled for the session.
- Punishment: No further exams for that paper, but the student can reappear in the next examination for that paper.
- For Minor Offenses (e.g., small cheating incidents):
- Cancellation of Entire Examination:
- For Serious Malpractices (e.g., cheating in multiple subjects or significant misconduct):
- The entire examination for the student in that session is canceled.
- Punishment: The student cannot appear for that session’s exams and will need to wait for the next examination period.
- For Serious Malpractices (e.g., cheating in multiple subjects or significant misconduct):
- Suspension from University:
- For Severe Cases (e.g., continuous or severe malpractice):
- The student may be suspended from taking future examinations for a fixed duration (e.g., one semester or a year).
- Punishment: The student may face temporary suspension, which will impact their academic progress.
- For Severe Cases (e.g., continuous or severe malpractice):
- Expulsion from the University:
- For Repeated or Serious Offenses (e.g., impersonation or major cheating incidents):
- The student may be expelled from the university entirely.
- Punishment: Permanent exclusion from the university, barring the student from any future academic activities at the institution.
- For Repeated or Serious Offenses (e.g., impersonation or major cheating incidents):
- Additional Penalties:
- Blacklisting for Awards or Scholarships: The student may be disqualified from any university scholarships or awards.
- Disqualification from Holding Positions: The student may be barred from holding student body positions or leadership roles within the university.
- Record of Malpractice:
- A permanent record of the malpractice and the imposed punishment is kept in the student’s academic file.
- This record may affect the student’s future eligibility for academic honors, admissions to other universities, or job opportunities.
